Bob's trip

It' has been awhile since I wrote my last article so I thought it was time for a new one. It has now been around four years that I have been fusing glass; what a journey it has been. Fused glass is now in my blood and I have come a long way with the help of some of the great fused glass artists out there who freely share their wealth of knowledge; to them I say THANK YOU.

In the beginning I did as most people do who are introduced to glass fusing, you start with smaller things like fused glass pendants. These are a lot of fun to make and a good learning experience. There are so many things that you can do with art glass and as you start getting more understanding of the rules of working with glass, you start moving into new directions like dichroic glass and making things like dichroic pendants and adding dichro into glass art to give it a certain flare.

Because of my understanding of how different glass react to each other, I was able to start playing around with recycled glass. I find it enjoyable where a lot of fused glass artists won't give the recycling part of it the time of day, to each their own, I enjoy it. After a lot of experimenting, I found a way to fuse recycled glass that created something I had never seen before. I now use this technique in my RARE EARTH series which has received a lot of attention from literally around the world;jes you have to love the internet
